Raspberry Pi Pico and Motion

By Chase Yiu

Electronics is more than lighting LEDs up and displaying things on screens. More importantly, they are used to create robots and moving things! In this workshop, you will be using the Raspberry Pi Picos to control motors and put things in motion, like servo motors, driving motors and stepper motors. Unleash your creativity freely in this workshop! Prior knowledge with python is recommended.

VEX IQ

By Ronan McFadden

There are many types of robots out there – ones that you can design and build yourself, or the ones that can help you with some extremely challenging tasks. VEX IQ is, believe it or not, one of the easier ones out there. In this workshop, you will be experimenting, building and coding the VEX IQ robots and customizing them to your own requirements. Prior coding knowledge is not necessary as we are using block coding.

Mr. Whitaker

Arduino and Motion

By Mr. Whitaker

In this workshop be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get up close and personal with an Arduino board! You will build and program a small control system that can control sensors, buzzers, LEDs, screens and more. In the process you will learn about analog and digital I/O (input and output) and some Arduino programming fundamentals. Some programming experience is recommended. Please download and install the Arduino IDE from https://arduino.cc/en/software before this workshop if possible.

EV3 Mindstorms

By Mr. McFadden

You might have heard some people say, “six LEGO bricks, countless possibilities.” The beauty of LEGO is it’s so simple to put things together and see it in “action”. What’s even better than this? Adding a bit of a robotics element to it. In this workshop, you will be exploring the LEGO EV3 Mindstorms, building your own robots and coding them. Prior coding knowledge is not necessary for this workshop.

Micro:Bits

By Mr. Chermside

Want to learn how to program and interface hardware, but don’t know where to start? Then this workshop is for you! In this workshop, you will meet the BBC Micro:Bits which is a small development board perfectly suited for beginners to experiment with hardware programming. You will be using block coding to blink LEDs, display patterns on screens and even make things move. Prior coding knowledge is not necessary but recommended.

Need for Algorithms

By Samuel Liu

As we are currently in the age of AI, algorithms are incredibly important in our lives. However, the lack of need for speed in algorithms may lead to algorithms which will require a million years (not exaggerated) to complete. Do you want to learn how to write fast algorithms? Or, on a wider scale, do you want to simply be quick and logical? Then join the “Need for Algorithms” workshop!

Dash the Robot

By Dr Y

Discover the wonderful world of the Wonder Workshop with Dash! Dash is a playful robot designed for easy access to the world of coding and robotics. Dash uses Bluetooth, three microphones, speakers, three processors and sensor fusion, proximity sensors, motors, and LED lights to create a super fun user experience. In this interactive workshop, you will test out Dash’s need for speed in some robot races! Use simple block-based coding to program your Dash to reach the finish line first!

Daniel

Blender

By Daniel, Edward, Mila

This is a workshop where we will go through the basics of Blender, a free and open-source 3D modelling software. We will teach you how to use the software to create 3D models of objects, and hopefully help you with your projects!
